The Movement for Musical Renewal

In the logo of the Lyre Association, the phrase "Movement for Musical Renewal" appears above the name of the association. As this arrangement implies, the association is part of a larger movement that is central to its mission and work. Yet, this Movement for Musical Renewal is not easy to define or describe. Inspired by the ideas of Anthroposophy, it is characterized by the application of the phenomenological approach of Wolfgang von Goethe to music, in which we attempt to engage in active listening and to experience the essence of the most basic elements of music, such as the single tone and the musical interval. Moreover, we acknowledge and explore the relationship of music to the different aspects of the human being--physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.

What is Anthroposophy?
